The Montana Auctioneer’s Tongue Twister Workout

Speaking is like any other physical activity.  To be at our best, we need to work out.  Your vocal mechanism (diaphragm, lungs, vocal cords, tongue, lips, etc.) need exercise!

Several years ago I attended the Western College of Auctioneering one of the world’s foremost auctioneering schools.  It was a great experience and I learned a lot and met some terrific people. Auctioneers work hard, typically spending hours a day selling cattle or cars or farm machinery, you name it.  Their voices have to be in great shape and they care for their instrument the way an actor or opera singer cares for theirs.  When you attend their 10-day course in Billings Montana, you learn a series of tongue twisters that have been used by auctioneers for decades to strengthen their voice muscles and to warm up before a day’s work.  If you would like to speak with the agility of an auctioneer, practice these exercises every day.

If you’re looking for an exciting new career, check out the Western College of Auctioneering.  Even if you aren’t looking for a new occupation, their 10-day course is an interesting way to spend some time learning a new skill in a beautiful part of the country.
